Dresser-Rand inaugurates R$ 60 million plant in Santa Bárbara

One of the largest suppliers of rotating equipment solutions to the oil, gas, petrochemicals and industrial processes market has invested R$ 60 million in a new unit

Last Wednesday, August 7, 2013, the president of Investe São Paulo, Luciano Almeida, attended the official inauguration of the new plant of Dresser-Rand, in Santa Bárbara d'Oeste, located 140 km from the state capital. Today, the company, which has invested R$ 60 million in the unit, has approximately 150 employees.

“The oil and gas sector is strategic for the state of São Paulo. Every entrepreneur who invests in this sector will always rely on our tax, environmental and infrastructure advice, in addition to the support to locate areas for the future settlement of the industrial plant,” says Almeida.

The new plant supplies all over Brazil the main gas compressors, already packed with various types of mechanical drives, which are usually installed on oil rigs to process natural gas from the pre-salt fields.

Dresser-Rand is also qualified to repair industrial gas turbines, skids of power generators driven by gas turbines on offshore platforms, as well as the energy cogeneration systems used both in the industrial and in the naval and oil and gas segments.

“We are delighted to celebrate the inauguration of our new plant in Santa Bárbara d'Oeste. This is an important milestone for Dresser-Rand,” said the executive vice president of Dresser-Rand for Global Solutions, Jerry Walker.

The company, which has publicly traded shares on the New York Stock Exchange, in the United States, provides rotating equipment, parts and after-sales services worldwide. The operations at the plant began in the end of 2012 and for this Dresser-Rand has trained the local workforce, including engineers and employees responsible for the management of the unit.

The construction of the new plant incorporates elements of sustainable design, and the company is working to achieve the LEED certification, which uses sustainable concepts in the construction of environmentally friendly structures and in the use of processes that respect the environment, as well as the choice and efficient use of resources that cover the life cycle of buildings.

The event was also attended by the mayor of Santa Bárbara d'Oeste, Denis Eduardo Andia, the municipal secretary of Economic Development, Rogério Bosco, local authorities, clients and suppliers, such as Petrobras, Weg and Voith.

Strong demand

In October 2011, Dresser-Rand entered into a contract to supply compression equipment and services valued at more than US$ 700 million to TUPI B.V. The equipment, which includes up to 80 DATUM compressor trains, will be installed in eight floating production, storage and offloading platforms (FPSO) of Petrobras. Training, after-sales services and two maintenance and services contracts of 10 years are also part of this contract.
