On this November 9, Cornell University, through its Emerging Markets Institute, held the annual conference that debates the business opportunities in these economies. The event gathered students, researchers and executive at a building of the institute in New York.

The conference had the participation of lecturers from different regions of the world to discuss the reactions of emerging markets and multinationals to the changes of the global context. Another point of highlight was the launch of the third edition of the report Mercados Emergentes Multinacionais: Multinacionais Emergentes em um Mundo em Mudança (Multinational Emerging Markets: Emerging Multinationals in a Changing World).

The director of Investe São Paulo, Sérgio Costa, debated in the panel “What does the future hold in store for Brazil?,” whose moderator was the president of Acquisition Group, Sam Sotoodeh. Completing the panel were the general-consul of Brazil, Enio Cordeiro, the  founding partner of Venture Kinetics, Ron Margalit, and the assessor to the president’s office of Grupo Plantar S/A, Geraldo Moura.

“The event was a great opportunity to present to investors, executives and opinion makers that the State of São Paulo has the institutional and fiscal stability that favor the performance of investments. We showed that the consumer market of the State is large and well distributed across the regions of its territory. We are a safe harbor in Brazil, which is exiting a moment of economic turbulence and shows clear signs of growth recovery,” affirmed Costa.

The participation in international events is part of the strategy of Investe São Paulo to attract investments to the State of São Paulo. This is the second time Costa goes to the United State in the year. In July, he participated in the BIO2018 to capture investments in the sector of biotechnology and pharmacy.
