The information technology (IT) sector of the Country draws the attention of large international companies due to its growth in the region, in spite of the economic turbulences faced by the rest of the world. Proof of that is that in spite of the 63% fall of Dell's global profit in the first quarter of this year, the Brazilian operation of the company, with a plant in Hortolândia (SP), keeps confident, since, unlike its headquarter, it presented growth in the period. "Our growth this quarter exceeded our growth in the same period of last year, influenced by the corporate segment", said Marçal Araújo, channel manager of Dell Brasil, during the "IT One Forum", in Belo Horizonte. The executive says that even if the companies freeze the exchange of technological parks with regards to desktops and notebooks, they will not be able to delay projects of acquisition of servers and storage equipment (data centers).
EMC, the giant of the data storage segment that faced an average fall of 6% in the net profits in the first three months of the calendar, explains EMC did not feel the effects in Brazil. "Latin America has grown 9%", said Carlos Cunha, CEO of EMC Brasil. The company that operated in the Country only by means of partnerships and distributors, implemented an outsourced plant in Campinas (SP), in the beginning of last year, in order to be more competitive among the small- and medium-size companies.
