Dairy sector is the spotlight during meeting with New Zealand delegation
New Zealand Government representatives seek commercial approach with State of São Paulo
The President of Investe São Paulo, Luciano Almeida, received this Wednesday, March 30, at the headquarters of the Agency, a delegation from New Zealand, headed by the Executive Director and Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Trade, John Allen, for a meeting on New Zealander potential investments in the State. The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of New Zealand in Brazil, Mark Trainor and the Consul-General of the country in Sao Paulo, Jeff McAlister.
During the meeting were discussed the common interests between the economic sectors of New Zealand and Sao Paulo. The dairy sector was highlighted, due to its relevance, because of the high level of development and the possible interest of investments of New Zealand companies.
Almeida presented the work of the agency and the benefits of investing in the State. Besides, he emphasized the importance of oil and gas sectors, which since the discovery of the pre-salt layer is one of the foci of the delegations visiting São Paulo, and of the infrastructure, which is in the spotlight because of the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Olympics. "People used to say Brazil was the country of the future, today we are the country of the present. The work of Investe São Paulo is show it to other countries and help businesses invest in the State", said President of Investe SP.
According to John Allen, New Zealand has an advanced agribusiness development, especially in the dairy sector. Besides being sophisticated, the technology New Zealanders have developed is sustainable and there is interest to bring it to São Paulo. "Today, 70% of all the energy we produce comes from renewable sources, and companies from our country are already producing energy from biomass in São Paulo. The agribusiness, the dairy sector, from the production to the logistics, also have green technology and they are highly developed areas in New Zealand that can be brought here", he said.
That was the first contact between Investe São Paulo and the Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Trade of New Zealand. Allen affirmed he will take the information he received to New Zealand entrepreneurs and that he thought it was very important to keep such connection to bring São Paulo and his country closer.
