Consumption of machines amounts to US$ 22.4 billion until May

Notwithstanding the apparent consumption of capital goods having registered deceleration in the country, it ended up the period from January to May with a 33.3% increase, amounting to R$ 35.9 billion (US$ 22.4 billion). In the previous balance, the growth rate, until the month of April, was 39.4%. The sales of the national manufacturers of machines grew 25.7% and ended up the period at R$ 29.7 billion (US$ 18.6 billion). Importations have increased at a faster pace, 43.5%, and amounted to US$ 8.06 billion. Exportations increased 10.7%, reaching US$ 4.44 billion. The data were released by the Brazilian Machinery Manufacturers Association (Abimaq). The entity warned about a reduction in the rhythm of growth of the sector. Irrespective of that, indexes such as the number of employees and use of the installed capacity once again presented figures above those from the previous month, with increase indexes of 11.4% and 3%, respectively.
