Codesp President foresees another US$ 2.9 billion for Port of Santos

The President of Companhia das Docas do Estado de São Paulo (Codesp, the São Paulo State Port Company), José Roberto Correia Serra, affirmed yesterday, at the 4th Foreign Trade Summit that ends today, in Santos, that nearly R$ 5 billion (US$ 2.9 billion) will be invested in the port, up to 2013, between public and private investments. Initially, the Port of Santos will receive a new investment on the amount of R$ 78.5 million (US$ 45.6 million) from the Federal Government for the readaptation of the perimeters of highway accesses and the construction of a new overpass. Concerning the perspective of investments of R$ 5 billion (US$ 2.9 billion), Correia Serra affirms it will offer the necessary infrastructure to the Port, not only with regard to maritime accesses, but also regarding land accesses. He foresees that up to 2015 the Port will increase the cargo operations from 80 million to 230 million tons.
