Clearance sales increase flow in malls by 10%

The period of great clearance sales in the shopping malls of the Country in January ended up stimulating the flow of consumers in the malls by nearly 10% in this period, compared to the same period of the previous year. A survey made by the Brazilian Association of the Shopping Mall Shop Owners (Alshop) also affirms the sales increased 7% this month compared to last year's January. According to the press office of the entity, the growth was a result of the clearance Sales the shopping malls all over the Country promoted to draw the consumer. Due to the moment the world economy is going through, the consumers are more cautious and, with that, the clearance sales ended up taking place at a larger scale, compared to 2008. The actions at points-of-sale had to be strengthened in order to bring the clients to the stores. These figures also indicate consumers are becoming more and more conscious when doing their year-end shopping. Consumers have sharpened their perception that the post-Christmas purchases are more advantageous because of the price cuts and the amount of offers in the market in this period.
