China Three Gorges to invest R$704m in Jupiá and Ilha Solteira dams

After investing more than R$23 billion in a power generation portfolio of 8.27 gigawatts in Brazil, China Three Gorges (CTG) is starting the second stage of a modernization program for the Jupiá and Ilha Solteira hydroelectric dams, built in São Paulo. The estimated investments total R$704 million through contracts with Chinese companies, in addition to US conglomerate GE and Brazil’s WEG. "The dams are very old, analogic.We are making a big investment to bring plants into the 21st century," said Evandro Vasconcelos, vice president of CTG Brasil, in an interview with Valor.
