Center of Alcatel-Lucent aligns to the Bell Labs

Valor Econômico

Alcatel-Lucent, manufacturer of equipment for telecommunications networks, will re-open, on May 3, its integration technology center in São Paulo. With US$ 5 million in investments, the Brazilian unit will develop software and work together with Bell Labs, the laboratory of the Franco-American company in United States. The structure will work as one of five centers of integration of Alcatel-Lucent in the world. The four other are located in the United States, France, Belgium and China. "We'll be connected in real time with the Dallas lab", said the President of the Brazilian subsidiary, Jonio Foigel.

One of the foci will be the development of applications for network security and call centers - segments in which Brazil has relevant operation. Alcatel-Lucent already maintains an integration center in São Paulo, four years ago. Nevertheless, its operation is restricted to the customer service of Brazilian clients - mainly telephone operators, and companies of other sectors. With the investment, the Brazilian center will gain more relevance inside the group. According to Foigel, it will take part in global projects and respond for the technology integration services of Alcatel-Lucent in the markets of South America. To strengthen the work of research and development of software and applications, the company is wrapping up partnerships with Brazilian universities.
