CCR to seek increase operation in São Paulo

Gazeta Mercantil - 08/12/2008

The Companhia de Concessões Rodoviárias (CCR) that manages 1,484 kilometers of highways wants to increase its operation in the Country. According to financial and investors relations manager of the company, Arthur Piotto, the company studies the projects of the government of São Paulo for the train that will connect the capital of São Paulo to the airport of Guarulhos and the lot of five state highways, which includes the Ayrton Senna and Dom Pedro roads. "If these projects are close to the network to concessions we may be able to increase the synergies. Once the projects are over CCR may be able to have its size increased. We are analyzing the opportunities", said the officer. Another opportunity, according to Piotto, is the second lot of federal concessions that must cover nearly seven thousand kilometers in the state of Minas Gerais and two other highways in Bahia. "There are several opportunities and we have to determine what our focus is, what our priority is, even with several projects underway in other countries such as Mexico and the United States", pointed out Piotto. According to the officer, there are R$ 800 million (US$ 509.6 million) of investments planned for this year, R$ 230 million (US$ 146.5 million) of which have already been spent. The increase in the volume of transit, stimulated, mainly, by the transportation of the crops, was the factor that leveraged the numbers of CCR in the quarter. According to the company, transit grew 9.4% from April to June of this year compared to the same period of 2007.
