Business Round brings entrepreneurs of Brazil and Dubai closer
The country will receive, as of today, 12 companies of the United Arab Emirates, mainly of the area of tourism infrastructure, which can yield partnerships in undertakings for the FIFA World Cup and the Olympics
After an increase of 15.75% in the Brazilian exports to the UAE from January to May this year, representatives of companies of Dubai come to Brazil in search of new partnerships. Starting today, Brazil shall receive 12 companies of the United Arab Emirates for two days of businesses.
With nearly 2 thousand foreign companies in Jebel Ali, area contiguous to the port, Dubai already works as a sort of central hub for the countries of the region. Of those companies already installed in the country, only six are Brazilian, which broadens the potential of operation of Brazil in that country. "Nearly 15 countries receive products imported via Dubai", says Michel Alaby, Secretary General of Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce.
Currently, the main barriers for the expansion of the relations between the countries are legal. The non-existence of a treaty of mutual protection and promotion of investments and the double taxation prevent greater gain and synergy. "We need those tools to protect the Brazilian and Arabs companies to negotiate", explains Alaby. Even so, the expectation is to increase the businesses in the coming months, mainly due to the arrival of the Ramadan in August. The fasting period in the Muslim world generates a need of formation of stocks in foods and products that should facilitate the businesses of Brazil with the region. "The time is similar to year-end festivities in the Christian world. The increase in consumption is really big", he details.
For the FIFA World Cup and the Olympics, there is still a market of tourism infrastructure that can be worked by the companies of the region. The construction of Dubai as a major international tourist center turned the companies of the country into great experts on the matter. Not by chance the business round scheduled for next week will be attended by companies of the infrastructure area. "There are companies with that knowledge. Partnership is certainly possible", points out the Executive. "Those business rounds are very important to generate contacts. And contacts lead to contracts", he jokes. The Arab Emirates also offer opportunities for Brazil. Currently, there are 1,300 projects of construction underway in the country, totaling US$ 418 billion. Another 300 projects are under study, totaling US$ 143 billion. The local markets of transports, tourism, telecommunications and construction can still be worked by foreign companies.
