Brazilian Zatix wants to be in the third place in the world

Gazeta Mercantil - 01/16/2009

After concluding the merger process, Zatix, a cargo and vehicle monitoring and tracking company, is getting ready to take the third place among the largest companies of the sector in the world in the next five years. The commercial vice-president of the company, José Melo, said the goal is to have nearly 2 million clients until 2013. "Our plan is daring but feasible. The idea is to have units in strategic places in the world, such as Latin America, Europe and Asia. We have expertise and technology to do it", said Melo. The company was born from the union of OmniLink Tecnologia, Graber Rastreamento and Teletrim, with the participation of the Pátria Investimentos investment fund. The process started in August, 2008 and the whole merger took nearly five months. The company has nearly 250 thousand clients and it had earnings of R$ 230 million (US$ 125.7 million) last year. The executive explained that cargo tracking represents 50% of last year's income. The other half is divided as 40% to fleet tracking and 10% to private vehicles. "For this year, the goal is to grow 30% both in income and in the base of clients. Even with the current financial crisis, we opened several work fronts. Now, we have more power to work, and that justifies such estimate of growth", emphasized Melo. According to him, with the merger of the three companies that operated in different markets, Zatix will have products both for cargo tracking and management and for vehicles.  Besides the organic growth of the market, which supports the expectation of increase of the income, Zatics foresees the acquisition of smaller companies in Brazil. "There are many companies that interest us that operate in strategic markets for the new company", affirmed Melo who did not tell which company will be purchased by the group.
