Sales from Brazil to the Arab countries have closed the first half 16.12% up, with earnings of US$ 5 billion, compared to US$ 4.3 billion exported in the same period in 2009. Such performance shows a significant evolution in the businesses, with a growth rate above 4% registered compared to the first halves of 2009 and 2008.According to the data released yesterday by the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, meat and sugar continue in the spotlight, representing 84% of the foreign sales of the agribusiness to Arab countries, amounting to US$ 2.9 billion. Only Iran imports 20% of all meat produced in Brazil.
From January to June there was also strong growth of the Brazilian imports, which went from US$ 2.04 billion to US$ 3.3 billion, an increase of 62% compared to the 61% fall in the first half of 2009 compared to 2008. In that period, the decline was motivated by the fall in the price of a barrel of oil.
