Within the next days, the maker Chery, largest Chinese car maker, will be officially installed in Brazil. That should mean the increase of competition inside the Brazilian car market, with other Chinese makers arriving at the Country, also bringing changes to the sector around here.
For its consolidation, the Chinese Chery will import the SUV Tiggo from Uruguay. This is the first movement of the maker that, with an eye on the growth of the Brazilian market, has already announced the setting up of its headquarters in Salto (SP). The local production is also already being studied and the investment may get to US$ 700 million in the Country. "Our expectations are the best ones possible. This is a market that is breaking records after records in the sale of cars. The Brazilian market is being monitored by Chery for two years", affirmed to DCI the CEO of Chery do Brasil, Luís Curi.
The investments of the JLJ Group, controller of Nutriplus Alimentação e Tecnologia, provided the installations of Chery in Brazil in Salto where the headquarters of JLJ already operate. Until the end of this year, the perspective of Chery is to sell 2.5 thousand units, not only Tiggo's, but also of three other models that will arrive in the Country until the end of the year. Other cars are foreseen for 2010, including cars with the flex fuel technology.
The strategy is to move into the market with vigor and, in order to do so, 50 dealerships are also scheduled for 2009. The expectation, now, is which models of the Chinese maker will have more penetration in Brazil and which should be produced here. The company affirms it is a "short-term" plan, but it also admits the site for its plant has not been defined yet, according to press office of the maker.
