Bematech signs exportation agreement with Unicomer chain
Valor Econômico - 09/03/2008
Almost two years after buying São Paulo software developer Gemco, commercial automation company Bematech closed its first exportation agreement, in the amount of US$ 1.2 million. In the debut of international sales, it will supply licenses and will make the installation and maintenance of software in 459 stores of the Unicomer, the chain from El Salvador that is present in 18 countries. Bematech's CEO, Marcel Malczewski, said that until the end of the year another important agreement of exportation for Latin America will be signed. So, both will help to mature the staff and will be used as showcases by the company. According to the executive, the value of the deal with Unicomer is important, because it does not involve ERP software, which is more expensive, but rather cashier software. Unicomer's revenues are nearly US$ 1 billion a year, and the company is present in El Salvador, the United Statres, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and Panama, among other countries. It belongs to the Regal Forest holding and operates with the flags La Curaçao, Tropigas, Prismas Hogar, Loco Luis, Courts, Lucky Dollar and electronics retailer Radio Shack. Malczewski said that Bematech had already started studying sales to Uruguay and Argentina, in small packages, for tests. The trend now is that new interests in Central America and the Caribbean appear. For 2009, Malczewski counts on the closing of four to six important exportation agreements. From the seven acquisitions made by Bematech in less than two years, five of them were in the software area, one of hardware, and one of services. There are others dealings in progress. The segment of hardware corresponds to 68% of the companies' revenue, followed by services (19%) and software (13%), but there is the expectation that the participation of the last two ones should grow.
