Apex project increase market for agribusiness

A project of "commercial intelligence" of the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex) is opening a wide market for the national agribusiness products. The incentive for the strategic association of producing industries and exporting trading companies should yield the country US$ 1.5 billion in foreign sales this year, mainly in the segments of foods and beverages - in 2008, the project raised US$ 800 million of the US$ 2 billion in deals closed by small and medium trading companies.
The incentives to the producer-exporter consortium managed to gather, since the middle of last year 560 trading companies, nearly three thousand companies in the effort of opening new markets. The experience that started with a meeting in Angola developed into a commercial mission with the participation of 32 trading companies in South Africa. The 376 industries represented closed US$ 40 million in businesses in the segments of foods, beverages, textiles, furniture, shoes and cosmetics, among others.
The Apex turned the strategic project into its actions.The trading companies will have an innovative role among the national companies. The bet in new businesses shall include markets from Africa, Middle East and Asia in 2010. The goal is to choose 1 thousand trading companies and provide support to 5 thousand Brazilian companies. In order to take part in the project, it is necessary to prove sales of US$ 50 thousand in the last three years.
