Anfavea foresees record offer of machines

Valor Econômico - 06/06/2008

The National Association of Automobile Manufacturers (Anfavea) has raised its estimate of production and sale of agricultural machines for 2008. Should the projection be confirmed, it will be the year with the greatest volume of produced machines in the sector's history. The new estimate is the production of 85 thousand machines this year. The volume is 30.7% above 2007's - the previous production projection was 71.2 thousand units. The current record was established in 1976, when 82.6 thousand machines were produced. For the sales in the domestic market in 2008, the projection was raised from 44 thousand to 53.1 thousand units. If that occurs, it will be the best performance since 1986. The record still is the 1976's, when the domestic market consumed 80.2 thousand units. "But, with 53 thousand, we are delivering more work capacity than in 1976", says Anfavea's Vice-President Gilberto Zago. In the accumulated until May this year, the production grew 41.5%, to 32.5 thousand units.
