Algar increases investments in data centers

Algar Technology, the branch of services and information technology consulting of the Algar group, opens a new data center in the city of Campinas (SP) today. It will be the third space for the storage of data of the company, which has just completed five months of operation. R$ 5.3 million (US$ 23 million) was invested in the construction of the structure and setting up of computers, equipment for the storage of data and energy systems.

Algar Tecnologia is the result of the merger of two companies of the group, which happened in December, 2008: ACS telemarketing company and CTBC telecommunications one. Currently, it has nearly eight thousand employees and a portfolio of 150 clients in five sectors:  financial, governmental, agribusiness, health and education. The other two Algar data centers are located in Uberlândia (MG). Together, the spaces gather 2 thousand employees in operation.

At first, the data center of Campinas will have 200 servers, the powerful computers intended for corporate use. The goal is to reach the capacity of nine thousand servers within the next four years. For 2009, the growth projection is 20%, which shall result in earnings of R$ 250 million (US$ 108.7 million). The perspective is that nearly R$ 70 million (US$ 30.4 million) of the projected total earnings would come from the business in Campinas.
