ALCOA keeps investments in Brazil

After announcing the laying off of 13.4 thousand employees all over the world and the reduction of costs of nearly US$ 450 million a year, American producer of aluminum Alcoa informed the investments foreseen for Brazil, estimated between US$ 750 million and US$ 1.5 billion, will be kept. According to the company, the projects are "the greatest investment ever made, in one single country, in the entire history of Alcoa". Yesterday South Korean steel plant Dongkuk Steel also informed that it will keep its projects in Brazil. With delays in the Ceará Steel, the company intends to focus on a project of a larger and separate blast furnace in Brazil.
