Agrishow bets in small- and mid-sized companies to stimulate sales
DCI - 03/05/2009
Luiz Aubert Neto, president of the Brazilian Association of the Industry of Machinery and Equipment (Abimaq), bets in the small- and mid-sized companies to assure the record sales foreseen for the next edition of the Agrishow. Neto emphasizes that programs of incentive to the purchase of machinery by small producers, like Mais Alimentos, prevented a fall in the sales of machinery above the 25% registered in January and motivate employment in companies that produce tractors with up 75 HP of power. The financial volume foreseen with the generation of businesses in the Fair is of nearly R$ 870 million (US$ 378 million), above the R$ 800 million (US$ 437 million) made in the 2008 edition, when the Brazilian agribusiness was going through strong moment of expansion and the sector of machinery registered record sales. The optimistic tone is kept even with the uncertainty about the participation of the five main tractor producers of the Country. In December, the National Association of Producers of Automotive Vehicles (Anfavea) sent letter to the Abimaq affirming that AGCO, John Deere, Case New Holland, Agrale and Valtra would not participate in the Fair. The sales of tractors represent nearly 15% of the total amount of business negotiated during the event. The Fair has, so far, 775 exhibitors confirmed, among which is Santal, an agricultural machinery company that, yesterday, requested an increase of 50% in the area it intends to occupy at the Agrishow. According to the organization of the Fair, before, the company wanted to cancel its participation because of the crisis.
