The agribusiness chain is the one with the greatest potential to receive investments and generate jobs in the state of São Paulo. According to a survey conducted by InvestSP, the Investment Promotion Agency of the State of São Paulo, there are 28 projects aimed at the sector that have already been mapped by the agency that could bring to the territory of São Paulo R$ 3.4 billion and generate over 6000 jobs.

“São Paulo has a fundamental pillar of its economy in the agribusiness chain. It is a sector that alone represents 15% of the GDP of the richest state in Brazil and therefore the opportunities here are enormous,” says Wilson Mello Neto, president of InvestSP. For him, São Paulo has unique characteristics and offers favorable conditions for those interested in investing in the state, whether in agribusiness or in any other sector.

In addition to the projects mapped and still under negotiation with the companies, there are already seven other initiatives of the agribusiness chain that have been approved, which confirmed the investment in the sector in São Paulo. Not publicly announced yet, these seven projects amount to R$ 75.5 million and should generate approximately 720 jobs.

In 2018, InvestSP assisted companies in the agribusiness chain that announced investments amounting to R$ 430.7 million, only last year. The amount exceeded by 9% the investments reported in 2017, when the agency contributed to projects that amounted to R$ 395.4 million.

“The figures only show that São Paulo has a lot to offer to those interested in investing in the state. We have skilled labor for different sectors, a privileged logistics infrastructure and adequacy and relevance of public policies. These are only some elements that have led many companies to look for us, so that we can contribute to their settlement in the state of São Paulo,” says Mello.
