Initiative will stimulate competitiveness in the oil and gas industry in São Paulo
On November 12, Investe São Paulo and Offshoreenergy, Denmark’s national knowledge center and innovation network, entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the purpose of establishing the exchange of expertise and promote the development projects for the oil and gas sector in the State of São Paulo, with emphasis on the region of Santos. The document was signed by the director of Investe SP, Ermínio Lucci, and the director of Offshoreenergy, Johannes Kromann Bie, at the headquarters of the agency in São Paulo.

During the meeting, the manager of Investe São Paulo, Luis Arbex, presented the advantages of investing in the state, such as the wide infrastructure and potential in the technology and innovation field, highlighting the technology parks, technical schools and universities that make São Paulo the state with the most qualified human capital in the country.

The manager of international projects of Offshoreenergy, Mikkel Juul, said: “I see great opportunities in Brazil and some challenges to overcome.” The company is focused on the expansion of oil and gas companies through the exchange of know-how between companies in the sector.

Oil and natural gas have a great relevance to São Paulo, since the state is responsible for 44.45% of the country’s production capacity, in addition to being the major consumer of natural gas, absorbing 23% of the total production.

“After the recent discovery of pre-salt fields in Santos Basin, the estimated productivity in the sector increased considerably,” said Arbex. According to the manager of Investe SP, the proper extraction of these sources will lead to energy, environmental and economic efficiency gains.
