Brazil becomes Scania’s largest market again

After two consecutive years behind Great-Britain, Brazil has resumed the position of Scania's largest world market. The new classification appeared in the 2007 annual balance, released yesterday by the maker's press office in Brazil, and it demonstrates the vigor of the advance of the sale of trucks in Brazil. The company sold 6.5 thousand trucks, 1.01 thousand buses and 2.2 thousand engines in the Brazilian market. The volumes surpassed the performance of the Brazilian operation in 2006 by 29%, 45% and 17%, respectively. In Latin America, in 2007 Scania's sales grew 23% in trucks, with 9.7 thousand units; 40% in buses, with 2.3 thousand units, and 22% in engines, with 2.5 thousand units. In the world, Scania's total sales in 2007 amounted to 8.921 billion Euros. The result showed a growth of 19% compared to 2006. As for the global operational result, it totaled 1.284 billion Euros, a performance 39% above the equivalent for 2006. Scania's markets in Latin America contributed for the 2007 total sales with 1.116 billion Euros, 26% more than in the previous year. All over the world, the Swedish maker sold a total of 68.6 thousand trucks and 7.2 thousand buses last year, an advance of 16% and 22%, respectively.
