Seeking to meet the high demand for metal packaging for beverages, the multinational Ardagh Metal Packaging (AMP) recently invested in the second expansion phase of the production capacity of cans at its unit in Jacareí. The company installed new equipment to optimize its 269 ml, 350 ml, 355 ml, and 473 ml sleek packaging production lines.

AMP’s plant had a significant increase in its production with this investment, becoming the largest aluminum can factory in South America. For the operation of these new lines, 61 people were hired and trained in a record time of 35 days.

InvestSP advises Ardagh on the implementation of a project that has sustainability as one of its main pillars. The Jacareí unit reached the internal goal of zero waste to landfill 4 years in advance.

“The State of São Paulo supports the implementation of actions that respect the environment. Our environmental team works closely with companies to help them find solutions that increase their competitiveness by reducing their environmental impact. Ardagh sets a great example for the packaging sector with increased production and respect for the environment,” highlighted Gustavo Junqueira, president of InvestSP.

Ardagh's next major sustainability goals are reducing the emission of volatile organic compounds (VOC), reducing water consumption, and using 100% renewable energy in the operation of the Vale do Paraíba plant.

Together with CETESB and with InvestSP’s support, the company is already carrying out studies to find the VOC control equipment that will make the company reach the global goal of reducing the emission of atmospheric pollutants by 10% by 2030. The equipment installation is part of the company's current investment cycle and is planned for the beginning of next year.
