Quality of Life
The State of São Paulo presents one of the best national performance levels relevant to the population's quality of life. Over recent years, there has been a significant improvement in longevity and education in the group of municipalities in SP, resulting from, respectively, a reduction of mortality rates and the increased attendance of kindergarten and the rates of elementary and high school graduates.
According to the United Nations Development Program (PNUD), 90% of the 645 municipalities in São Paulo present a high Human Development Index (HDI). Of this total, 20 cities are rated as excellent (2010).
The state has a broad network of public and private health centers, including many reference centers respected nationally and internationally. São Paulo also has high quality educational institutions, from basic education up to university level, qualifying a labor market that stands out for the qualification of its members.
