When it comes to innovation and entrepreneurship, São Paulo is one step ahead of the other states. According to a survey conducted by ABStartups – Brazilian Association of Startups, São Paulo is the state that most concentrates startups in Brazil, with 28% of the country’s enterprises, a percentage that is more than three times higher than the second in the ranking, Minas Gerais.

“This leadership is only possible thanks to the excellent state universities and scientific and technological centers of international reference, favoring the emergence of innovative ideas and young entrepreneurs. São Paulo is focused on creating conditions to develop this ecosystem, and thus become a hub of startups of global reach in different areas of the economy,” said Juan Quirós, president of Investe São Paulo, the investment promotion agency of the state of São Paulo.

The state of São Paulo surpassed the mark of 1000 startups registered in the ABStartups database. The number itself is impressive, but the growth trend is also positive. Over the past four months, for example, the number of startups grew 21%.
Associated with the State Secretary of Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation (SDECTI), Investe SP, among its duties, is also responsible for the management of technology parks and for providing assistance to small and medium enterprises, including innovative enterprises.

In October, at a date to be determined later, the Agency will promote a seminar to discuss the role of technology parks in the promotion of innovation and in the development of startups.

“It will be an opportunity to bring together key players and representatives of the innovation circuit in the country and show the importance of technology parks for the generation of wealth and technological development,” said Quirós.
