Entrepreneurs as the drivers of innovation was one of the issues discussed at the meeting

The president of Investe São Paulo, Juan Quirós, suggested strategies to encourage small and medium enterprises from São Paulo to gain space in the foreign market, adding them to the Brazilian exports agenda. Quirós opened the meeting of the Task Force on the Internationalization of Small Enterprises held on August 20, which is part of the Parliamentary Front of Entrepreneurship (Frepem), along with the state representative Itamar Borges. The event was attended by experts in the subject and representatives of professional associations related to the most important sectors of the state economy.

“We need to focus. One of the contributions I can make, which is a result from my experience in the sector, is that we should seek niche markets abroad. This way we will gain space that meet the scale and production capacity of small and medium enterprises from São Paulo. It is useless to attract a market and, when it is time to meet a request, we have no scale to fulfill it. For this reason, it is very important to first have the capacity to not frustrate the expectations of both sides,” said Juan.

The president of Investe São Paulo emphasized that the partnership that is being built with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex), will benefit exporters from São Paulo. Juan Quirós said that in the upcoming days he will have important news for Frepem. “I would like to thank the president and vice-president of Frepem, and the state representative Caio França, for including us in this important task, which will certainly help create more jobs and income for the state of São Paulo".

The meeting was accompanied by the staff of the Department of Business Development and Institutional Relations (GDNRI) of Investe São Paulo. The meeting was attended by the deputy secretary of Entrepreneurship of the Department of Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation, Roberto Sekyia, representatives of Fiesp, Fecomércio, Commercial Association of the State of São Paulo, USP and IP. The main barriers to exports for small and medium enterprises will be mapped and presented in the next meeting.
