DCI - 01/24/2008

Petrobras went up from the 11th to the sixth place in the ranking of the PFC Energy consulting that lists the largest oil companies of the world based on their market values at the end of 2007. The survey was released yesterday by the British newspaper Financial Times. The issue highlighted Petrobras and Petrochina, which had real improvement in the ranking in 2007. Petrobras is ahead companies such as BP and Total. "Petrobras, the Brazilian company with two great discoveries under its name in the last months, went up from the 11th to the sixth place, with an increase of 93% in the price of its stocks, replacing Total, which fell to the eighth place, with only 4% of increase in the price of its stocks", informed the Financial Times. According to the PFC Energy, the ranking reflects the growth of the oil companies connected to the State, such as Petrobras and Petrochina, since these companies, in general, have more access to the international reserves of oil. The PFC Energy is an energy consulting company that has worked for companies and governments worldwide for more than twenty years. It annually publishes the ranking of the 50 largest listed energy companies and its main criterion is their performance in the stock market.
