The director of Investe São Paulo Sérgio Costa participated in the opening of the 5th EnerSolar + Brazil, held on July 15. The event brought together entrepreneurs and researchers in the field of renewable energy for seminars, lectures and exhibition at São Paulo Expo Exhibition & Convention Center.

During the ceremony, Costa reinforced the services offered free-of-charge by Investe SP and the priority given to investments in renewable energies. “We are looking towards the future and we know that the state has the structure to develop technologies that will make the energy matrix of the country increasingly clean,” he said.
The director also invited the participants to visit the Agency’s booth, created with the support from Apex Brazil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency).

The president of the Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association (Absolar), Nelson Colaferro, highlighted the industry’s expectations for the coming years in the country: “We have a big challenge ahead, especially with respect to the qualification of the workforce and the readjustment of regulatory frameworks. But our forecast is that more than one million photovoltaic roofs will be built in the future,” he said.

The director of the Brazilian Wind Power Association, Sandro Yamamoto, recalled the growth that this industry has been reporting over the past few years. “Currently, wind power already accounts for 20% of what is used in the Northeast. We are ready to improve the lives of people by offering a clean and sustainable energy source all over Brazil,” he said.

The ceremony was closed by the Secretary of Energy of the state, João Carlos de Souza Meirelles. In addition to the speech of the president of the Energy Cogeneration Industry Association (Cogen), Newton Duarte, Meirelles talked about the state’s capacity to supplement the power generated by the hydropower plants.

“We have high levels of solar radiation and a huge potential for the generation of biomass, especially through the solid waste of big cities. Among its priorities, the state government has to be a national protagonist in the generation of clean energy, developing the integration of the energy generated via solar, wind and biomass sources,” he said.

This year, the event addressed the topic “Crisis: Solutions and Opportunities”.
