The mission abroad was intended to establish partnerships with organizations that have frequent contact with companies interested in expanding into Brazil.

The balance between investment projects assisted and announced by Investe São Paulo between 2014 and 2015 was positive: 260% increase in value, 228% increase in the number of jobs and 131% increase in the number of projects.

Still, the Agency, which is associated with the Department of Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation of the State of São Paulo, has been intensifying its efforts to bring to the state foreign projects in information and communications technology (ICT) through international missions.

Thanks to an agreement signed with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brazil), Investe SP was present, in the same week, in missions in Tokyo (Japan), Beijing (China), and in the US cities of New York, Washington, Boston and Chicago.

"The State of São Paulo is a technology hub in Brazil, especially due to its diversified economy and for housing the Latin American headquarters of major companies in the sector. In addition, the state is home to the main innovation and research hubs in the region," said Juan Quirós, president of Investe SP.

In the United States, the mission held between January 27 and February 3 included, besides the visit to companies, contact with diplomatic institutions, associations and investment promotion agencies. The idea was to establish partnerships with organizations that have frequent contact with companies interested in expanding into Brazil.

Similarly, in Asia, the agenda began on January 22 and ended on February 6, and included meetings with companies and Brazilian representatives in the two capitals, Beijing and Tokyo.

About the partnership

The agreement signed with Apex-Brazil in 2013 aimed to help Investe São Paulo bring more foreign investments to strategic sectors, such as Renewable Energies and ICT. due to the quality of jobs they generate and for the innovation and value added of products circulating on the chain.

These studies resulted not only in international missions, but also in promotional materials that highlight the economic potential of the state for companies in these sectors. Click here to get to know them.
