Investe SP brings together Cleaning and Hygiene sector to reduce water consumption in production

The expectation is to reduce water consumption by up to 40% of the Blue Line’s production

In compliance with the determination of governor Geraldo Alckmin, Investe São Paulo promoted, on September 4, a meeting with the Task Force for the Promotion of Water Efficiency of Blue Line Products, seeking to reduce water consumption in the manufacture of an extensive list of items used in the cleaning and hygiene of millions of Brazilian households and companies.

The president of Investe SP, Juan Quirós, demanded the working schedule of the task force, which was responsible for defining the draft of a decree that will regulate the reduction of water consumption in the manufacture of these products across the state of São Paulo. The team informed that the document should be completed, with the endorsement of the entire industry, by October 16.

The expectation is to achieve a reduction in water consumption of up to 40% in the so-called Blue Line, which includes the manufacture of cleaning and hygiene products that supply 98% of Brazilian households. Juan Quirós said that the work of Investe SP, together with the production sector, will bring benefits to the entire population of the state of São Paulo and Brazil.

The meeting was attended by Juliana Marra and Wagner Orlandi, Unilever; Thiago Pietrobon, São Paulo Supermarket Association (APAS); Maria Eugenia Saldanha and Giancarlo Montagnani, Brazilian Association of Industries of Cleaning and Related Products (Abipla); Daniela Rios, P&G; Miriam Moreira Bocchigleri, engineer at the Department of Sanitation and Water Resources; Noemia Akemi Koga, Department of Finance; José Eduardo Ismael Lutti, coordinator of Urban Parks at the Department of Environment; Jorge Alberto Tenório, specialist in Solid Waste Management at the Department of Environment; Ermínio Lucci and Sérgio Costa, directors of Investe SP; Luciana Escames and José Pedro Fittipaldi, Environmental specialists at Investe SP and Rafael Lapinha, Tax specialist at Investe SP.
