Creation of jobs is the greatest since 92

The offer of official jobs broke another record in March with the opening of 206.5 thousand new vacancies. In the first quarter, 554.4 thousand formal jobs were created. The data, published yesterday, are from the General Reference Record of Employeed and Unemployeed Workers (Caged) of the Ministry of Labor and are the best results in the comparison of the respective periods since the beginning of the Caged series in 1992. March results were 41% higher that the balance registered in the same month of 2007 and meant an addition of 0.70% in the stock of formal jobs of the economy. In relation to the first quarter, the accumulated balance represents 39% of increase compared to last year's same period. In the 12 months ended in March, 1.77 million of new workers entered the formal market. In March, except for the transformation industry, several economic sectors had records in job generation. Minister of Labor, Carlos Lupi, pointed out the growth of offer of vacancies in civil construction, which registered a surplus of 33.4 thousand ranks. In the same month last year 17.2 thousand people were employed. The industry had a surplus of 40.4 thousand jobs, but it was practically the same result as in the same month of 2007. In the quarter, the sector accumulates 146.2 thousand new vacancies. The segment of services had 89 thousand new vacancies in March with prominence for cleaning, monitoring, manpower selection, and IT. Commerce had 19.6 thousand new vacancies in March, the highest balance for the period. In the quarter, there are 35.4 thousand new formal employees.
