Volkswagen plans to launch 14 models in Brazil by 2020

Valor Econômico

German automaker Volkswagen announced plans to launch 14 models in Brazil by 2020 and align them more closely with global launch dates of vehicles whose platforms are shared by several markets, in a sign of its increasing ability to bring newer technologies to the Latin American market. “Never in history have we launched so many cars in such a short time,” said Pablo Di Si, Volkswagen's chairman and CEO for South America. But the company doesn't expect Brazil to receive its newest electric propulsion technology, which will be focused instead on China and Europe. Nevertheless, Mr. Di Si hopes the Brazilian government's new regime for the auto industry, Rota 2030, could potentially offer incentives for electric vehicles.
