US and Brazil form partnership to promote trade and investments

The Brazilian government should receive a list of policies that were adopted by the US to promote trade after the 2008 financial crisis, in order to help local companies to go ahead with their businesses under the current recession. Commerce secretaries of both countries — Kenneth Hyatt, of the US Department of Commerce, and Marcelo Maia, Brazil’s Ministry of Development — have formed a partnership to promote bilateral trade. They had a meeting last week in New York, during an international retail fair. "They have a program of internationalization of US companies ... We’ll think about how to apply it in Brazil and choose the policies needed to support Brazilian retailers to internationalize," said Mr. Maia after the meeting with Mr. Hyatt, who pointed out the promotion of direct investments as one of his priorities and plans road shows to foster the operation of US companies in Brazil.
