Sales grow up 10,7% in the 1st quarter appoints Serasa

Commerce sales increased 10.7% in the first quarter of 2008, compared to the same period of last year, shows the Serasa Indicator of Commerce Activity. According to the survey, the specialized retail (electroelectronics, vehicles, construction materials, etc.) grew 13.4% in the period. Sales in hypermarkets and supermarkets (retail of food and beverages in grocery stores, butcher shops, greengroceries, and beverage distributors), on their turn, went up 7.2% in the same comparison. As for the comparison between the months of March of 2007 and March of 2008, the total sales (evolved) increased 8.8%, and the volume of sales of the hypermarkets, supermarkets and retail of food and beverage grew 6.5%.  The specialized retail registered rise of 11.1% in its volume of sales. In relation to February of 2008, sales increased 10.8%, with addition of 12,2% in the sales of hypermarkets, supermarkets and retail of food and beverage together, and high of 9.5% in specialized retail. The Serasa Indicator of Commerce Activity considers a sample of 6,000 retail companies all over the country.
