Rhodia do Brasil doubles its sales and reaches US$ 1.2 bi in 2007

Pushed up by the car sector and by the sector of civil construction, Rhodia sales in Brazil reached US$ 1.2 billion in 2007, an increase of 17% compared to the previous year. For this year, the company foresees the maintenance of last year's good performance.  Marcos de Marchi, President of Rhodia Latin America, is optimistic and foresees a warmed market for this year. "We are not feeling a retraction in the demand. Our expectation is to keep strong sales this year ", he stated. De Marchi affirms that the sales of the company doubled in the country in last the four years. In 2003, the businesses of the company amounted to US$ 572 million. "We expect a two-digit growth for this year. Rhodia has had a continuous growth of its businesses in Brazil", remarked the officer. The exportations of the company increased 21% in 2007 up to US$ 329 million. From the total exported, 33% were destined to countries in Latin America and the other 67% were divided among North America, Asia, and Europe. Due to such good performance, the headquarters of the group, in France, increased the investment from US$ 35 million to US$ 50 million for Brazil. The main project is to increase the production of intermediate chemicals in Paulínia (SP).
