Merial invests US$ 22 million

Merial Saúde Animal (Animal Health) announced yesterday investment of US$ 22 million in two plants: one for ant parasitic paste for horses and one for chewable products for small animals, in its industrial complex of Paulínia (SP). The first one will be concluded this year and the products for pets' plant, in 2009. The units comply with the requirements of the American Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which will accredit them to export to that market. Last year, the company exported to 15 countries and it expects to cater to at least 65 nations in three years, with revenues around U$ 300 million annually. The company is also entering into partnerships for the local development of veterinary products for big animals, besides analyzing bringing to Brazil ant parasitic products produced by the newly-acquired New Zealander Ancare. Merial has just closed a deal with the Von Francken Argentine laboratory for the distribution of the reproduction line.
