Gazeta Mercantil - 01/14/2008

One year after the creation of the logistics management, Celulose Irani, manufacturer of Kraft paper, packaging, and resins, is obtaining good results. Last year, the company concluded the construction of two warehouses, an important step, according to Irani's logistics manager Mário Macaggi, for the integration of whole distribution process of the company's products. With the warehouses, the company increased its stocking capacity by 64%, going from 3.2 to 5 thousand tons of paper. In 2007, Irani produced 176 thousand tons of paper and 80 thousand tons of packaging in the Santa Catarina and São Paulo units. The revenues reached R$ 426 million (US$ 242.1 million). According to him, the decision of creating a logistics area in Irani came after several attempts of unifying the distribution, storage, and expedition services. Macaggi emphasized that since the moment that it integrated the logistics operations, the company was able to manage mainly its stock and distribution. Celulose Irani has 1.800 collaborators distributed in the paper and packaging units and in its offices. According to the company, last year 45% of its revenue came from corrugated cardboard packaging. The paper sales represented 42%.  The remaining 13% were evenly shared between the markets of furniture and resins.
