GE eyes healthcare and energy in Brazil

Valor Internacional

Daurio Speranzini, a Brazilian who has just become GE’s Latin American chief, expects the economy to keep recovering this year and the next. He is betting on energy and healthcare in Brazil to keep up with last year’s strong sales growth in the region last year, of 14%, to $8.8 billion, and help the parent go through somewhat of a rough patch. GE reported a $6.2 billion loss last year on accounting and restructuring charges. Mr. Speranzini also expects a deal between Boeing and Embraer to favor its engines since it is a critical supplier of the former.
