CCR adds new São Paulo airport project to portfolio

Valor International

Infrastructure concessionaire CCR announced it included the New Airport of São Paulo (NASP) project in its portfolio. A controversial proposal, the airport project was being handled by the controlling shareholders of CCR – engineering groups Camargo Corrêa and Andrade Gutierrez, which are embroiled in the Petrobras corruption scandal. CCR now holds the purchase option for the airport's area in the São Paulo Metropolitan Region, valued at R$323 million, and was freed from reimbursing its shareholders for land purchase costs or any other spending deriving from the project's studies stage. Estimated to cost up to R$8 billion, the airport faces opposition from concessionaires that won the nearby airports of Guarulhos and Campinas, who argue that a new terminal would be hurtful to their businesses.
