YPF aims to expand presence in local lubricant market

Valor International

Argentine oil company YPF, which was re-nationalized in 2012 by president Cristina Kirchner, wants a bigger slice of the competitive Brazilian lubricant market. The plan of the company, one of the largest oil companies in South America, is to double its participation in the market to about 4% in 2017 – a tenth of what it holds in Brazil. Regarding revenues, it plans to increase them to around R$500 million from R$220 million. Part of the plan involves expanding operations at its facility in Diadema, São Paulo, acquired for R$25 million.
