With global growth, Brazilian multinationals bring more profits home

Valor Internacional

The synchronized growth of top global economies increased profits repatriated by Brazilian multinationals and is even driving an internationalization rebound. Statistics released by the Central Bank show an inflow of $1.64 billion in profits and dividends in January earned by domestic companies abroad, more than five times the amount reported in the same month last year. Preliminary February data through the 22nd show a $1.5 billion inflow. Brazilian companies also remitted abroad $2.47 billion in direct investments during January, compared to the monthly average of $522 million seen in 2017, as the strengthening domestic economy reinforced cash reserves.
