Volks sells 8.7% more until October

Yesterday, Volkswagen AG announced records sales of 3.04 million vehicles of the VW brand in ten months in 2007, a growth of 8.7% compared to same the period of 2006. The maker pointed out Brazil as one of the markets with greater growth, together with China and Argentina. In Brazil the maker sold 433,777 thousand cars and light commercial vehicles in this year's ten months, a growth of 33.6% compared to last year's same period, as informed the Brazilian subsidiary. In China, the growth was 27.5%, with 652 sold vehicles. In Argentina the increase was 21%, with the sale of 87 thousand units until the month of October. Martin Winterkorn, CEO of the Volkswagen group, foresaw that the sales of the Volkswagen brand will reach a record of 3.5 million units until the end of the year. "The wide array of models, from the Fox to the Phaeton, with innovative technologies and complements, the new quality products, such as the Tiguan, recently launched in the market, and the improvement of the orientation in relation to each market allow the continuous growth of the Volkswagen brand", said Winterkorn. Outside Germany, Brazil is the second largest operation of the Volkswagen group, which has its largest portfolio of products in the Country, with 16 models. It is only second to China. In the Country the "Volks Gol", best selling model for many consecutive years, has sold 195,834 units from January to October and achieved 12.3% of the Brazilian market share. The Fox, fifth place in the ranking for the 10 first months of the year, sold 103,006 units, with a market share of 6.4%.
