Valor International

The Secretariat of Ports (SEP) signed on Tuesday the early renewal of three leases of Rumo Logística at the Port of Santos, in São Paulo. Now the logistics company, which is heavily indebted, must commit to investing R$308 million by the end of 2018 in the facilities to increase productivity. The amendment provides for the unification of the three Rumo contracts for another 20 years. One of the three contracts of Rumo expires in March. The required investments include new equipment and storage for sugar and other products to increase Rumo’s handling capacity in Santos to 14.67 million tonnes from the current 10 million tonnes.
