The Italian Group Raccortubi, one of the major manufacturers, suppliers and stockists of tubular products made of stainless steel, duplex and special alloy in the world, announced on Wednesday, August 13, the beginning of operations its its first unit in the Americas . Located in Jacareí, 80 km from the state capital, the distribution center has received investments that, by 2017, will reach US$ 2.5 million, and include the construction of a production unit in 2016.

Investe São Paulo, the investment promotion agency linked to the Secretariat of Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation, has been providing assistance to the project since March 2013. “We have assisted Raccortubi mainly on finding a suitable location for the investment. Since the company will supply to the Oil and Gas sector, it received priority support from the agency,” said the President of Investe SP, Luciano Almeida.

Initially, the Italian company built in Jacareí an inventory and distribution center for seamed and seamless stainless steel connections and pipes, special alloys in Schedule standard and stainless steel flanges. These products are used in piping systems and industrial processes present in offshore platforms, refineries, petrochemical, chemical and pulp and paper industries.

“Raccortubi is conducting an investment plan outside Europe, aiming to diversify markets. We have subsidiaries in the Middle East (Dubai) and Asia (Singapore), and we identified the need for having a plant in Brazil that could, in the future, become the company’s hub in Latin America,” said the CEO of the company Brazil, Pietro Federico Netto. He explains that the need for local content of Petrobras, one of the company’s clients, also influenced the decision.

The company evaluated that the state of São Paulo would be ideal for the office, especially because it concentrates most of its suppliers and clients. Thus, with the assistance provided by Investe SP, Raccortubi looked for a city that combined, at the same time, ease of access to the Port of Santos, Rio de Janeiro and the capital of São Paulo - and Jacareí meets all these requirements.

“Our clients can rely on a personalized and customized service, with efficient deadlines,” said Federico. In the first stage of the project, the company will resell products manufactured by Tecninox Srl in Italy, company of the group responsible for the production of the components.

To complement the range of products and meet the requirements of local content, a production unit will be built in the plant in Jacareí in 2016, also with the name of Tecninox, reproducing the structure established by the Italian holding. By 2017, 20 jobs should be created, generating a turnover of approximately R$ 10 million per year.

About Raccortubi Group

Founded in 1949, in Milan, the Raccortubi Group started its activities as a stockist and distributor of connections made of different types of steel to major construction companies that had settled in Italy at the end of World War II.

Led by the family descended from Piergiorgio Pentericci, the company grew in line with the modernization of the industrial infrastructure of the country, creating a reputation of reliability at the global level in the supply of piping components of all diameters, thicknesses and metal materials.

In 1988, aiming to achieve a greater autonomy with respect to suppliers and market fluctuations, Raccortubi founded Tecninox, in Sarmato (Piacenza - Italy), manufacturer of Schedule standard connections made of stainless steel and special alloys. The company was one of the first to use this type of cutting edge technology in the European context, becoming a global supplier of the product.

Today, the Group reports revenues of nearly 50 million euros per year and hires approximately 130 employees around the world.
