The 17th edition of Feiplastic, International Plastics Fair, began on Monday, April 22, at Expo Center Norte, in the city of São Paulo. The event, which will take place until March 26, will bring together the national and international plastic industry chain. Its challenge is to show the sustainability solutions developed by the sector to mitigate the environmental impact of this field of activity.

The president of InvestSP, Wilson Mello, represented the state governor, João Doria, during the opening ceremony of the event, which was attended by the Vice President of Reed Exhibitions Alcantara Machado, Paulo Octavio, the president of Abiplast , José Ricardo Roriz Coelho, the director of sustainable development of FIESP, Nelson Pereira Reis and the president of Abimei, Enio Crispiano.

Mello talked about the importance of the plastic industry in São Paulo and showed that the agency is available to companies in the sector to support them in their activities. “The plastic industry is very important for São Paulo and for Brazil. It is one of the great generators of jobs in the state, being recognized for the quality of training and qualification of its workforce. In addition to working with investment attraction, we also focus on retaining companies in the state of São Paulo. We want all companies to look for us so we can help them invest continuously in the state of São Paulo,” he said.

Paulo Octavio spoke about the expectations of the organizers in relation to the fair. “It will be 40 hours of event during this week of work. We know that companies in the industry will achieve great results. The business rounds we give us evidence that the plastic industry is confident in the economy and ready to grow,” said Octavio.

For Nelson Reis, the plastic industry must show that it is able to grow and preserve the environment. “Plastics have brought a lot of convenience to our daily lives. It would be difficult to imagine modern society without the use of plastics in the various segments of our economy. The plastic industry can grow in harmony with the environment. Technological solutions are in full development so that plastic products can be reused, thereby reducing their environmental impact,” he concluded.

To disseminate the use of plastic in applications in line with the new needs of society and the market, the fair organized the project called Inova Plastic. An area that will enable visitors to experience the theme of innovation in a differentiated and interactive way, based on collaborative initiatives and content, addressing various aspects of innovation to foster the competitiveness of the plastic industry.
