President of Investe SP travels to China seeking new investments

The President of Investe São Paulo, Luciano Almeida, will visit seven cities conducting meetings and presentations

The president of Investe São Paulo, Luciano Almeida, between February 14 and 27, will be on an international mission to China with the purpose of prospecting new companies to the state of São Paulo, strengthening the existing partnerships and promoting the image of the state as a destination for new investments.

The schedule of the mission includes meetings at the embassy, visits to the headquarters of five companies and institutional meetings with businessmen from various sectors.There are also meetings with important Chinese entities focused on the attraction of investments that can assist in understanding the local market and facilitate new ventures in São Paulo.

“China was the fourth country that most invested in São Paulo in 2013. In total, 9% of the projects announced by Investe SP were from Chinese companies and this is why visiting this country is vital,” said Almeida.

On the morning of the first day of activities, the executive met with representatives from two financial institutions of the Chinese republic, Mofcom, the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, represented by the director-general, Xu Ying Zhen, and the commercial advisor, Lu Yuzhong, and CIPA, China Investment Promotion Agency, represented by director Hu Ruihong.

The main positive aspects of São Paulo were presented at the event so that the financial agencies are able to assist in the attraction of new investors to strengthen the trade relations between China and the state of São Paulo.

In the afternoon, Almeida met with the Ambassador of Brazil in Beijing, Valdemar Carneiro Leão, and entrepreneurs from the automotive, renewable energy, agriculture and services sectors, at the Embassy of Brazil in Beijing.Representatives from the Bank of Tokyo, which is already a partner of Investe SP, also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the president answered questions about the tax aspects of Brazil and the incentives available in the state of São Paulo to new investors, the opportunities for PPPs in infrastructure, financing and presented data involving the trade relations between Brazil and China.

“We visit China every year with the purpose of introducing São Paulo as an investment route.It is interesting to see that the Chinese people have been increasingly interested in our state and better understand our laws and tax model,” said Almeida.

The international mission will last thirteen days and will include the cities of Beijing, Wuhu, Shanghai, Zhuhai, Hong Kong, Guilin and Shenzhen.
