According to Pannuzio, renewable energy is one of the fastest growing sectors in Sorocaba

On February 10, the president of Investe São Paulo, Juan Quirós, met with the mayor of Sorocaba, Antônio Carlos Pannunzio, at the City Hall, to discuss the city’s vocations to welcome new investments.

“We want to identify the vocations of each city in São Paulo and find out what kind of companies the mayors want to attract to their cities. With this, it is a lot easier for a company to settle and succeed in a certain location,” said Quirós.

According to the mayor, the renewable energy field is one of the fastest growing sectors in Sorocaba. The municipality requested the support from Investe São Paulo to continue to attract companies in this sector to the city.

“Our concern is with innovation. Creating jobs that generate technological development. Sorocaba has the capacity to produce entrepreneurs and we want it to continue,” said Pannunzio.

In addition to providing assistance to major private projects in the state, São Paulo’s Agency for the Promotion of Investments and Competitiveness will also assist small and medium enterprises. “We have to get closer to these entrepreneurs, who are the largest generators of jobs, and increasingly promote their growth,” said Quirós.

In Sorocaba, Investe São Paulo has assisted the construction of the plants of Toyota, John Deere and Embraer.

“Investe SP is extremely important to Sorocaba and we hope to strengthen our relationship to work together,” said the mayor.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary for Economic Development and Labor, Geraldo Almeida, and the director of Investe SP, Sergio Costa.
