Technology, environment preservation and people. This is how the corner stone launching for the construction work of the new plant and the expansion of Procter & Gamble´s distribution center in the municipality of Louveira, São Paulo, occurred this Tuesday, April 29th.

During the event, Investe SP president, Luciano Almeida, represented Governor Geraldo Alckmin and talked about the efforts of the government agencies so that businesses can enhance their activities in the State.

"When the State, municipality and private sector unite to generate employment and income in a city, we're giving each individual the opportunity to subsidize their own progress. Automatically, individuals will seek professional qualification and, consequently improve their peers´ life quality, "said Almeida.

The partnership with Investe São Paulo was highlighted by the President of P & G in Brazil, Alberto Carvalho, and the Director of the Louveira plant, Marcelo Nery.

"This unit in the group will house the largest distribution center in Latin America, and we intend to transform this plant into a zero waste factory. This would not be possible without Investe São Paulo´s assistance and intervention," said Carvalho during his speech.

More production, more distribution

The investments by the largest consumer goods company in the world for Louveira plant are ambitious. With the new facility, the factory and distribution center will add up to a total built area that is larger than 140 thousand square meters.

"Here we will have everything we need to increase our presence in the region, with a distribution center and a modern factory, as well as the opportunity to expand our current production," says Marcelo Nery, General Director at the P&G factory in Louveira.

The new distribution center will be P & G´s largest in Latin America and is expected to distribute everything that is already produced at the unit. The forecast is that the new facilities will generate over 250 new jobs in the region.

Concerning the environmental aspect, the company also goes beyond legal compliance. Altogether, there will be 115 thousand m² of preserved area, in addition to the re-planting of 10 thousand trees and the preservation of five existing river springs in the property. The expansion project in Louveira is innovative and will serve as a reference for all future P&G plants.

The construction of the new building will follow the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) concept, a certification for sustainable constructions that follow the resource rational use criteria (energy, water, etc).

The project includes several types of construction within the same enterprise: factory, distribution center and administrative building, besides the interconnection construction with the existing factory.
