MSD Saúde Animal plans expansion of São Paulo plant

Valor International

MSD Saúde Animal, the animal health arm of US pharmaceutical Merck, plans to expand its plant located in Cruzeiro, São Paulo, in 2016. The investment aims to bring to Brazil the production of a "group" of drugs, MSD president in the country Edival Santos told Valor. The executive declined to detail which products will be produced here and the total disbursements, but said the parent company has already given the green light. The investment also is targeted at reducing idleness, strategy that started two years ago, and increasing the share of products for pets. Today, the beef segment accounts for about 60% of the company’s revenues in Brazil, which totaled R$516 million in 2014.
